A student is required to pass a minimum of 161 and 122 credits for a 4 year and 3 year programme respectively including compulsory and required courses.

Application criteria of the department

Admission Entrance UTME:
The entrance examination is conducted by JAMB. In addition to attaining the required standard in entrance examination, candidates must satisfy the general university as well as specific faculty requirements.
For the general requirement, candidate must obtain at least a credit pass in 5 subjects at GCE /WAEC O level or approved equivalent at not more than two sittings.
Admission by Direct Entry:
Candidate must possess one of the following qualifications;
i. 2 passes at the principal or advanced level with GCE O level or approved equivalent credit passes in 3 other subjects at not more than two sittings.
ii. 3 passes at principal or advanced level with GCE, O level or approved equivalent credit passes at not more than two sittings (passes at the principal or advanced level may be obtained at the GCE A O level, HSE or IJMB, JUPEB).
iii. Passes in 2 recognized NCE subjects with GCE O level credit in 3 other subjects. Education is accepted as a 3rd A level subject for those taking courses in education
iv. Candidate’s who successfully pass the final examinations, of the following institutions will be considered eligible for admission,
The international Baccalaureate obtained from an accredited institution with relevant gradings. National diploma for polytechnic or college of technologies – only applicable to some faculties. The defense academic certificate as moderated by a recognized university or universities.

Other conditions to note:

1. No single subject may be counted at both O level and A level 
2. General paper at HSC or in any other examinations, would not be accepted for substitute for English language
3. A credit in Pass in English of the IJMB at the O level is acceptable as equivalent to SSCE /GCE O level for admission purpose.
