Omar Sikemi Adejoke is a lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Life Sciences at the University of Ilorin. With a strong background in Biochemistry, with a focus on metabolic health, functional foods, and indigenous plant research, her work bridges the gap between laboratory science and public health impact. Her research explores the biochemical and therapeutic potentials ethnobotanical resources, particularly in the context of obesity, oxidative stress, and other disease management. She integrates in vivo, in vitro, and in silico approaches to understand and validate bioactive compounds for health applications.
Dr. Sikemi is committed to student mentorship and the development of accessible, culturally relevant nutrition solutions. She is also working on community-focused projects such as creating evidence-based Nigerian meal plans for weight management.
She is a firm believer in the therapeutic potential of food and the power of science to transform lives locally and globally. Omar’s research contributions have been published in esteemed scientific journals, solidifying her position as a respected researcher in her field.
